The Azawakh
The Azawakh, also known as Tuareg Sloughi, originated in Mali around the 1000's. It was used as a sighthound to hunt gazelles and is exceptionally fast, being able to reach speeds of 40 mph (64 km/h). The Azawakh was developed by the Tuareg people of the southern Sahara and has exceptional stamina.

Special Interest: The Azawakhs like to sleep on the low roofs of their homes in Mali. They work naturally in packs.
